Sous Vide Egg Bites Recipe

Sous Vide Egg Bites

STARBUCKS STYLE SOUS VIDE EGG BITES BUT IN A INSTANT POT

Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites Recipe using your Sous Vide Cooker will come out smooth and creamy. If you buy them at Starbucks you’ll also lose some weight in your wallet. Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites are filled with bacon, cheese and flavor. I am OBSESSED with the Starbucks sous vide egg bites. They are my top 5 favorite foods for real. My life is now complete as I can make them at home. They taste almost identical and at a fraction of the price.

Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites. Even the name exudes richness, creaminess and sinfulness. At $5-$6 per pop they should be. Instead of venturing out every morning for our latest egg obsession we decided to make these at home utilizing the same ingredients listed on the Starbucks website. Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites are usually baked using a Sous Vide machine but most American homes don’t have one. You don’t have to get an entire sous vide machine (but what would be a reason for not owning one, aside from price to be able to make perfectly cooked food. We love our Anova Nano.

LOOKING FOR EASY, HEALTHY RECIPES TO MAKE WITH IT? LOOK NO FURTHER. YOU’RE GOING TO ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE CHEESY SOUS VIDE EGG BITES. THEY CAN BE MADE WITH 3 BASIC INGREDIENTS AND DONE IN UNDER 60 MINUTES

These Sous Vide Egg Bites are velvety, springy and light. Without the Starbucks price tag. Keep in mind, nothing but utilizing an actual Sous Vide machine will duplicate the exact texture of the Starbucks version, but this gets you pretty close using an Instant Pot.

This sous vide egg recipe is simple to make with only a few simple ingredients. Starbucks egg bites ingredients include: egg, bacon, cheese, cottage cheese, and unsalted butter.

I actually left the keep warm function on and they turned out perfect, but next time I’ll turn the pot entirely off and see if it makes a difference. They were still delicious!!!

SOUS VIDE COOKING IS A METHOD OF COOKING WHERE YOU USE A REGULATED WATER BATH TO PRECISELY COOK FOOD TO A CERTAIN TEMPERATURE. WANT TO COOK A STEAK TO MEDIUM RARE? GOOD NEWS! IF YOU SOUS VIDE THE STEAK, THE ENTIRE STEAK WILL COME OUT MEDIUM RARE, NOT JUST THE MIDDLE. THE GREAT THING ABOUT THE SOUS VIDE IS THAT WHATEVER YOU ARE TRYING TO COOK, WILL COME OUT PERFECTLY EVEN. TYPICALLY MEATS AND OTHER FOOD SUCH AS EGGS OR VEGETABLES ARE VACUUM-SEALED IN A PLASTIC BAG WITH THE AIR REMOVED AND THEN SUBMERGED INTO THE WATER BATH. IN THIS RECIPE’S CASE, WE USED A MASON JAR AS THE VESSEL, WHICH WORKS IN THE EXACT SAME WAY.

Sous Vide Egg Bites

  • Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites version utilizes Gruyere and Monterey Jack cheese, however we’ve tested it with smoked gouda, pepper jack and cheddar with success. Swiss cheese works, however the flavor is lacking. Mix and match depending on what you have in your fridge.
  • This recipe also works well with cream cheese vs cottage cheese. It’s not quite a light, but the flavor profile is consistent.
  • Make sure to utilize your blender for a consistently smooth texture.
  • Don’t have heavy cream or prefer to cut down on the calories? Feel free to leave it out. We find the flavor is on par, however it helps smooth out the texture to get that Sous Vide smoothness.

Interested in keeping the circular shape of the Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites? Use a baby food freezer storage tray in place of the mason jars.

Bonus: What if you havea Sous Vide Cooker: Sous Vide Egg Bites are essentially like little egg soufflés made in your sous vide. Whatever you are cooking is going to cook perfectly even using a Sous Vide cooker like an affordable Anova Nano Sous Vide Cooker. When you cook something in the sous vide, it’s submerged in water, which is the same temperature throughout your entire pot, thus cooking whatever is being sous vide perfectly even.

HOW TO MAKE SOUS VIDE EGG BITES

    STEP 1- ASSEMBLE INGREDIENTS

What you’ll need for this Sous Vide Egg Bites recipe are three simple ingredients: eggs, milk and shredded cheese. You’ll also need some salt and pepper and I like a little Tabasco on them for a little heat.

You’ll also need a large stock pot and 6-9 4 oz. Mason Jars.

STEP 2- PREPARE WATER BATH + SOUS VIDE

First, attach your sous vide cooker to the edge of your container. Since all cooking containers are different sizes, place your Mason Jars inside to see how many will fit when cooking. After you’ve gotten your count, remove the Mason Jars and then fill the container halfway up with water. The goal here is to make sure your Mason Jars become fully covered in the water, so you’ll want to fill it at least to that height. Set the temperature on your sous vide to 172ºF and press start.

    STEP 3- PREPARE MASON JARS

You’ll need a vessel of sorts to house your egg bites and we chose to use mini 4 oz. Mason Jars. You can order these on Amazon or buy them at your local grocery store. The most important part of this recipe is making sure that each Mason Jar is well oiled. You do this so that the egg bites don’t stick to the edges. Use something like coconut oil cooking spray or olive oil to grease the inside of your Jars

STEP 4- ASSEMBLE EGG CUPS For Sous VIDE EGG BITES

Whisk together eggs and milk. Then, place 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese on the bottom of each Mason Jar. Fill the jar up about 3/4 of the way full with the egg mixture and then season with salt and pepper on top. Do note that if you can fit 9 jars on the bottom of your stock pot, you will have the adjust the number of eggs and milk you use for this recipe. Or sous vide these in 2 batches.

    STEP 5- SCREW ON LIDS

Now that you’ve prepared your Sous Vide Egg Bites, it’s time to screw the tops on. Screw the tops on and then unscrew one turn. This will ensure the pressure won’t get trapped inside of the jars.

    Jars in potJars in Pot

STEP 6- TIME TO SOUS VIDE

Once the water has heated up, place all of the Mason Jars on the bottom of your container. They should sink right to the bottom and you should see lots of bubbles come to the top IF you unscrewed the tops properly. Set your timer to 1 hour and let your egg cups cook.

STEP 7- REMOVE FROM WATER BATH AND LET COOL

Use tongs or a good heat and water resistant glove to remove your egg bites from the water bath and let cool for around 10 minutes. Then, use a knife to remove your egg cups from the Mason Jars. Alternatively, you can throw the jars right into the fridge for an easy grab and go breakfast in the morning still in the Mason Jar!

When you’re ready to eat, we recommend serving with some tabasco. These little egg bites are also perfect for an on-the-go meal-prep breakfast paired with some berries and a breakfast salad. However you choose to eat them, you will not be disappointed! PS: these are also a great low-carb, Keto egg muffins recipe.
