5G Phones: Time to buy or should you wait?

By Smartphonepricecomparisons.com

What precisely is 5G and should you buy a 5G Phone right now?

5G is really just a radio frequency that your future 5G phone will work on.

“5G is coming and so is your 5G Phone.”

We’ve heard it teased and bantered about by telecom giants and cell phone manufacturers throughout recent years. The fifth-age system aka 5G guarantees exceptionally quick download speeds, an IoT upheaval and fast streaming. But what good is a 5G network without a 5G phone and vice versa what good is a 5G phone without a 5G network? Since cellphones first came of age engineers from different companies have agreed to using the same specifications for the most part for networks. To get the advantages of 5G, people will need to purchase a new 5G phone, perpetuating a cycle of always needed to spend money on new and better toys err phones.

Does Network Speed matter?

How fast will your new 5G phone be? Not to get to technical but there’s a sort of speed, a lag known as latency, that may turn out to be considerably more important with 5G than ever before.

Type something in on your 4G phone now like beginning a web search — and the reaction isn’t actually prompt. A small lag time of 50 to a few hundred milliseconds is normal. A 5G networkand your new 5G Phone are designed to reduce that time to a fraction of what it is now. The main benefit being that high-quality Virtual Reality applications which now typically require bulky headsets and are connected by wire to a nearby computer that generate 3-D images will be able to connect wirelessly to other machines, freeing users to move and making it easier to develop VR goggles the size of eyeglasses.

That improvement could bring numerous other advantages in other areas yet unexplored like augmented reality for example, computer generated reality.  individuals could point a phone camera at a football game and see both live video on the screen and superimposed player stats or fantasy football stats or other information, said Patrick Moorhead, an expert at Moor Insights and Strategy.

What’s more, 5G’s effect reaches out to different fields like medicine that  depend on high speed connections and anything connecting via wi-fi.

One may say that 5G isn’t a new thing, as a few countries have had 5G networks up and running in the past few months already. Well, most of the world still hasn’t been graced by it yet. But as the new 5G networks take off, so will the 5G phones you’ll have to use the fast speeds. So should you buy your 5G phone now or wait?

It won’t take long anyway for 5G phones to rule.

Verizon and AT&T have introduced their 5G offerings with the first use of high frequencies that are known by the phrase “millimeter wave.” Using this, the wireless providers can pump data at high speeds, but the signals don’t travel as far. So the two carriers are first targeting densely populated areas — “parts or pockets” of cities like Chicago, Andre Fuetsch, president of AT&T Labs, put it. Sprint and T-Mobile plan to start with lower frequencies. The result may be somewhat slower initial speeds but broader range, said Michael Thelander, president of Signals Research, a wireless consultancy firm. Still, 5G’s full benefits aren’t expected until all American carriers upgrade key central switching equipment, which may not happen until late 2019 or sometime in 2020.

So should I buy a 5G phone that works with 5G right away?

If you have a 5G network in your area and if you are driving a self-driving car or are a heavy gamer you don’t want latency times to be too long. But for others maybe waiting for lower prices may be in order.

When will 5G be here?

For a large portion of us, the exact timing is unsure. AT&T has already switched on its 5G service in certain cities. In any case, most cell phones aren’t prepared at this point to use a 5G systems. So AT&T will at first market a 5G hot-spot device, made by Netgear, that can pipe remote broadband signals to 5G speeds which will be noticible in high speed video To give you an example of the download speed difference, a movie that used to take 6 minutes to download will now take less than 20 seconds. Ever get on a plane and curse yourself for nor=t downloading a movie to watch? Wham, you’ll get it before they tell you to buckle up.

[One of China’s biggest tech companies is at the center of the fight over the future of 5G.]

But this is not just about having faster 5G phone. The  new fifth-generation cellular networks , as mentioned will also affect many other kinds of devices, including industrial robots, home security cameras, drones and self driving cars that send traffic data to one another. This new era will leap ahead of current wireless technology, known as 4G and make it a dinosaur.

Nokia 5G phone

We’ve put together a list 10 Android 5G phones from the major manufacturers except Huawei (because of the U.S. ban) that have either teased or confirmed 5G phones. Apple is apparently going to be late to the party on this one and not have any 5G phones til 2020. Will one of these be your first 5G Phone?  You can read more detailed reviews below.

  • Nokia 10
  • HTC Hub Hotspot
  • Motorola Z3
  • Motorola Mod
  • Google Pixel 4
  • Oneplus 7 Pro
  • Samsung Galaxy S10
  • Samsung Fold
  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
  • LG V50 Thinq
  • ZTE Axon 10 Pro
  • Sony Prototype Folding Phone

NOKIA 10 is 5G Mobile Phones.

1. Nokia 10

Nokia licensee HMD Global was one of the many OEMs listed by Qualcomm as working on devices set for launch “starting in 2019” which all pack the 5G-ready Snapdragon X50 5G modem.

HTC 5G phone

2. HTC

The fallen Android phone king refuses to give up on its mobile business despite several years of failures. Like so many other manufactuers scrambling for market share, HTC is hoping 5G will shake up the industry. It’s one of the many Qualcomm partners testing the X50 5G modem. There’s also a good chance HTC’s 5G phone will pair the X50 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor. HTC was among the manufacturers named at Qualcomm’s 5G summit. Until the phone comes out they are playing the 5G rollout with a 5G Hotspot Hub.

Motorola 5G phone Moto Z3

3. Motorola Z3 and Mod

If you ask Motorola, the race to the first 5G phone is already over thanks to the Verizon-exclusive Moto Z3 and its 5G Moto Mod (And the One Plus Pro). The snap-on modular attachment is hardly a looker, but the award-winning Snapdragon X50 5G modem-powered mod is already on sale. Normally the price is $349.99 but it is currently on sale for $199.99. Verizon does require that customers have a Moto Z3 on their account before they will sell them the 5G Moto Mod. If you don’t have the handset already, you can pick it up for $10 a month for 24 months. Motorola Z3  combined with the mod, moto z3 is the world’s first cell phone with access to Verizon’s 5G Network, conveying a fresh start for enjoying video, interfacing home gadgets, working remotely and gaming in AR and VR. Motorola likewise joined forces with Qualcomm to accomplish this industry achievement using the leader Snapdragon X50 modem and millimeter wave parts.

Google Pixel 5G phone

4. Google Pixel 4

In typical Google fashion, the search giant is letting others make the big promises, and testing moonshot ideas in the background like delivering high-speed mobile internet via drones. In theory, the Google Pixel 4 could support 5G, although I wouldn’t hold your breath. Google has been more than happy to skip over the latest tech in the past. The Pixel 3 series missed out on an in-display fingerprint sensor and still packs a single camera lens and just 4GB of RAM. If you’re holding out hope for a 5G phone from the Google any, you might want to keep your eyes on Verizon. Google has traditionally partnered with Verizon as the exclusive carrier for the Pixel range, and Verizon is fully aboard the 5G hype train and they have already released some 5G phones such as the One Plus Pro. Google has also partnered with Verizon to offer “free” Chromecasts for its 5G Home service, which is currently only live in a few cities.

OnePlus7 Or OnePlus 7T is 5G Mobile Phones.

5. OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus wasn’t shy about its plans to launch a 5G phone in 2019. The OnePlus 7 Pro was released in May (I should know I bought one on the first day.) Prices were about $300 more than their 4G phones but have already started coming down.

6. Samsung Galaxy S10 and Fold

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G display

If you need proof the smartphone sector is in a sales slump, look no further than the industry leader Samsung. Samsung, like so many other phone manufactuers is hoping late 2019 will change all that, as new technology finally comes to the market. Samsung has already revealed its own 5G-ready Exynos modem but more importantly, it will launch at least three 5G phones in 2019. The first was the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, which is the biggest handset in the Galaxy S10 family of phones, with a massive 6.7 inch display and a huge 4,500mAh battery to power the screen and its 5G hardware. Inside, there will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor (for the U.S. version) along with 256GB of onboard storage and 8GB of RAM. (Still not as good as the OnePlus Pro) It will have four cameras in the back (12MP, 12MP, 16MP and a 3D depth sensor for AR effects), and two front cameras (10MP and another 3D depth sensor). The Samsung S10 5G Phone is also considerably more than the OnePlus phone. For a comprhensive review read: https://smartphonepricecomparisons.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-is-this-the-one/

The other model that initially had problems out of the gate was the Samsung Galaxy Fold. It has a 7.3 inch display and a 4.6  inch display. It is also quite pricy and at this point in time is probably one to avoid. About the only good thing I can say about it is that you can buy this phone in different colors .i.e., space silver, cosmos black, martian green and Astro blue.

7. LG V50 THINQ

LG is another organization that has released a 5G Phone. The V50 Thinq has a 6.4-inch 1440 x 3120 AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and a triple-focal point back camera, with a 12MP standard focal point, a 12MP fax one and a 16MP ultra-wide one. There’s additionally both an 8MP standard focal point shutter and a 5MP wide-edge one on the facade of the smartphones. The LG V50 ThinQ additionally has a 4,000mAh battery, and it ought to be worked to last, as it’s both IP68-ensured (for residue and water-obstruction) and sports military-grade drop insurance. There’s additionally a discretionary second screen connection as the LG DualScreen. We don’t know precisely when the smartphones will land or the amount it will cost, however, expect it at some point in the principal half of 2019 and hope to pay a high cost.

8. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is a hot 5G smartphone with a sliding camera and an indent less showcase. The 5G phone has a screen-to-body proportion of 93.4% and eliminates the “jawline” at the base of the showcase. It has a 6.4-inch OLED 1080p board. The gadget has 12 MP wide-edge and fax modules on the back, and a 24 MP selfie camera supported by a 2MP sensor on the front. The smartphone has a slide out selfie camera. In the engine, the Mi Mix 3 is fueled by a Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB of RAM. It will keep running on Android 9 Pie OS based MIUI 10. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has double front camera as many new phones will have of 24 + 2 megapixel and double back Camera of 12 + 12 megapixel. The Smartphone is likewise expected to be stacked with Optical Image Stabilization. It will bolster Face Detection and high powerful range(HDR) imaging too.

9. ZTE Axon 10 Pro

Stop me if this is starting to look like some well-known, yet the ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G technology is controlled via Qualcom Snapdragon 855, estimating yet to be affirmed, and a discharge date got ready for some point amid the primary portion of 2019. At the end of the day, it’s fundamentally the same as pretty much every other 5G model. it has aa 4,000 mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and 6.47-inch 1080p OLED show with a tear indent.

ZTE Axon 10 Pro is 5G Mobile Phones.

 10. Sony 5G Prototype Folding Phone

Sony additionally has its very own 5G prototype mobile phones to flaunt.  Pocket-Lint reports is being alluded to inside at Sony as the AG-1, it was being shown gushing 4K video substance from an adjacent base station over mmWave 5G technology.  It will also be a foldable phone like the Samsung Fold. Given the way that it was likewise observed at Qualcomm’s corner, it bodes well that it’s running on the Snapdragon 855 versatile stage, with the X50 5G modem.

Final Thoughts

Ever since the 5G hype train kicked into gear our friends at Android Central have been saying the same thing: you should not buy a 5G phone in 2019. The networks aren’t ready, the phone selections aren’t broad enough; it’s just too early and the phones are pricey. Well I found a way to prove them wrong. There are actually a few people who should buy a 5G phone. The thing is … they all pretty much live in a handful of cities.

5G currently is not widely available, and takes extra equipment or a expensive phone to access. So for many people it may not be a smart idea to buy a 5G phone right now. However, what if your are ready for a new phone for any reason. Well then, it probably doesn’t make sense spending a lot of money on a 4G phone that will be obsolete in just a few years. So in that case I would advise on spending the money on a 5G phone.  I did it this past year because I was sick and tired of my Google Pixel’s short battery life. So it made sense for me to buy a new phone and since I new the phone would last me for year I bought the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G Phone.

Another thing to consider is that a new 5G Phone will probably have a much better camera and display than buying a 4G phone. So my thoughts on buying a new 5G phone right now are different than most. If you need a new phone right now, make it a 5G phone.
