It lies flat against the vents and has a low profile when there’s no phone on it. Hardly noticeable. Fits both thick and thin vents. Will usually allow the vents to continue to be adjustable. Magnet is adequately strong. You can stick the metal plate the magnet latches on to to most any phone. Inexpensive as well.
This works well. Holds my S6 fine with a case on the phone. Because of the vent location..it’s a bit of a stretch to reach but I mostly wanted it to keep the phone from laying in the cup holder.
I LOVE this phone holder. I did close the vent it is on so my phone doesn’t get too cold or hot so I kind of miss the air. It doesn’t block my view like the ones that stick on the window do. The magnet is VERY strong. It comes with THREE metal plates, two of which have adhesive, so you can put them on other items including a tablet. 
It works great and attaches easily to the air vent. I use it with the thin magnet inside the case.
